The League for Clubs (TLfC) is excited to announce a strategic partnership with the Mountain Premier League (MPL). Through this agreement, the Mountain Premier Conference has been formed, and is expected to compete in TLfC’s 2025 season.
The MPL was formed in 2017 and has worked tirelessly to grow the game of soccer across a majority of the Mountain Time Zone. Like TLfC, the MPL prides itself on always making decisions with the best interest of its member clubs in mind.
“The Mountain Premier League and its clubs have always wanted a league system that provides competition connecting local city markets to a broader regional competition landscape, resulting in an opportunity to compete on a well-represented national stage that awards a true national champion. We feel strongly that as the US Soccer league landscape continues to evolve, the owners and partners at The League for Clubs are poised to lead us toward a future our market desires for years to come,” said Don Harmon, MPL President. “The Mountain Premier League and the Mountain Premier Conference will continue to strive to incubate professionally-operated organizations, growing markets that can obtain a place in the professional ranks of US Soccer. This will continue to be a league full of merit-based principles and valuable playing opportunities for the Rocky Mountain region’s talents.”
Per the agreement, the Mountain Premier Conference champion will earn a spot in The League’s postseason playoffs and a chance to compete for a national championship. Beginning as early as 2026, the MPL plans to implement a system of promotion and relegation that will see its member clubs earn the opportunity to move from regional to national competition in The League.
“We at TLfC are excited to expand our footprint into all four time zones, but even more excited to partner with a great regional league like the MPL,” said Casey Cantor, TLfC Commissioner. “We are looking forward to working collaboratively with the MPL to help identify opportunities within the region to expand all levels of the MPL pyramid, including the Mountain Premier Conference.
The MPL is the third regional league to agree to a strategic partnership with The League for Clubs, joining the Gulf Coast Premier League (GCPL) and Metroplex Premier League. The GCPL will also field a conference in TLFC’s 2025 season, the Gulf Coast Conference.
